Kalamazoo Aviation History MuseumFounded in 1977, the Kalamazoo Aviation History Museum, also known as the "Air Zoo," is dedicated to preserving and displaying historicaland military artifacts and to serving as a research and educational facility for this country and abroad. The first Air Zoo opened its doors on November 18, 1979. Originally developed as a local flight museum, it quickly grew into the tenth-largest nongovernmental aviation museum in the country. With the addition of the Restoration Center in 1994, it quickly became recognized as one of the country's premier aviation attractions. In 1999, Air Zoo leaders began to see the need for a larger, more modern facility that would allow the museum to reach audiences never before exposed to the world of flight by offering a multi-sensory flight experience. On April 25,2003, construction began on the new 120,000 sq. ft. facility that is today's Air Zoo. www.hobogrill.org |
