Capt Anthony Meldahl Locks And Dam

Captain Anthony Meldahl Locks & Dam is located at mile marker 436 on the Ohio River. It creates a 95 mile navigational pool between Meldahl Locks & Dam and Greenup Locks & Dam. Meldahl is an integral link in the Ohio River navigational system. Tours of the facilities can be scheduled. The site offers fishing, picnic and restroom facilities (open from April to October), an observation tower, and wildlife viewing. Pets are allowed. The pool between Meldahl Locks & Dam and Greenup Locks & Dam has a number of recreation areas on lands leased from the Corps. This area is along the Lewis and Clark route. There are boat launching, picnic facilities, snacks, and camping at White Oak (mile 424 in Higginsport, Ohio). Other areas are at: Eagle Creek (mile 416 in Ripley, Ohio); Ohio Brush Creek (mile 388); Augusta, Kentucky; and, Manchester, Ohio.
